The Fundacja ABCXXI (ABC Foundation) was founded in 1998 by Irena Kozminska, now its president. ABC co-operates with the Polish ministry of culture and many partners in the field of media and it is financed by donations. The foundation aims to offer long-term support to children and adults in Poland through educational, organisational and promotional activities. Since 2001, the foundation has organised a nation-wide action - “All of Poland reads to kids“. Everyone is meant to experience how important it is for children to be read to, and how important this is as regards the emotional development of children. The foundation furthermore issues reading recommendations, it organises book donations for youth and child centres and orphanages, and large-scale campaigns for supporting libraries, such as the “Book Donors` Marathon: One Company - One Book“ or Harry Potter for libraries“.
